charnham st 106 - Looking east from the Bear Corner. In the foreground on the right is one of the crooked-shaped water pipes, used to supply water wagons which damped down the dusty road in dry weather. There were several others in the town (outside the Town Hall, and at the top of the High Street). They were installed c1906, and not removed until c1915, well after the main roads were tar-macadamed c1910. | |||||
