Little is yet known about the Hungerford Handbell Ringers, but the photograph of the Handbell Ringers was found in the bell tower of St Lawrence's Church in 1995. The names were on the back of the photo frame.

Elsie Smith, then living in Atherton Crescent, remembered the Hungerford Handbell Ringers going up and down the High Street on New Year's Eve to ring out the old year and ring in the new. Joan Macey, then of High Street, also remembered this event lasting until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939.

Marjorie Eatwell and Joan Macey confirmed Billy Wiggins (front row left). The daughters of the late Mr Oram of 83 High Street, confirmed that he was a Handbell Ringer, although he was not in the photograh.
