A busy year with the Camera Club, leading me to respond to requests for pics from the Town Council for their calendar and Chamber of Commerce for publicity - the start of my community photography!

27 Mar 2011: Canal Canoe Race - One of the 'warm-up' races as crews train for the arduous Devizes to Westminster race over the Easter holiday.

23 Apr 2011: Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race - The first day of the race - featuring crews who are planning to take the full 4 days with overnight stops along the way.

3 May 2011: Tutti Day - The usual Town Hall photos before the Tuttimen depart - the first with Greg Furr as Constable and the last with Bellman Robin Tubb.

26 Jun 2011: Farmers' Market - Another larger market on a sunny day with the flags out - for Hadcaf? (I see one of their banners).

28 Jun 2011: Milliner - A project for Camera Club with the cooperation of the milliner at Bei Capelli in Bridge Street, who was fresh back from a weekend at Glastonbury and still wearing her Festival pass.

24 Jul 2011: Big Wheel Cycle Event - I'd followed the riders outbound and took these pictures on the edge of Savernake at the St Katherine's turn.

19 Oct 2011: Horse Logging - I stumbled upon this unusual activity and was grateful to have the Nikon on hand. Logging with horses is still practised as they do less damage to the land than heavy machinery. The crew had come over from Gloucestershire for the contract.

7 Dec 2011: Christmas Lights - Another attempt to get satisfactory results in the dark. The 50mm standard lens has produced starburst effect on the highlights without the need for a special filter.

9 Dec 2011: Victorian Extravaganza - In the dark again but with the kit zoom lens, needed to deal with the variety of distant and close-up situations in the melee of the evening, complemented with flash for the close-ups.

Trains: Of special note an appearance by BR Pacific Oliver Cromwell, a preservation pioneer. Such a pity for its resonance in Hungerford that John O'Gaunt in the same series did not survive the cull of steam locomotives.

Local Views: Some pecularities captured - including a serious (county-level?) girls cricket match, the High St during gas main replacement, divers preparing for the new canal footbridge.
