Moya Dixon kindly donated a collection of 220 photos to the Hungerford Historical Association in October 2015.

She included the following introduction:

"It would seem appropriate, in the first instance, to give details of the background which has led to the preparation of the enclosed memory stick which I would like to donate to Hungerford Historical Association.

I was born and brought up in Froxfield and although not living there any more (having moved to Park Way in March 2012 - HLP) I have always been involved with the Church and the village activities non-stop. Fund raising for Church roof repairs was on the agenda in 1980 when I volunteered to attempt a photographic exhibition of "old Froxfield" at the fete. It was quite successful in a small way but it was not until 1995 before I arranged a much larger one in the village hall. It would take far too long and take up too much space here to recount the story from then up to the present day but the event was repeated in 2001 on a much larger scale and this year it has been produced on a CD of 439 photographs together with a 35 page Index describing every exhibit.

Without a shadow of doubt the two exhibitions would not have been so appreciated without the help and expertise of the late Ron Scott of Hungerford and a member of the Camera Club. He first approached me when he learned that I was contemplating an exhibition in 1995. He was not only interested as a photographer but had a special regard for Froxfield having been born and brought up at Oakhill. After the event two complete sets of exhibits of the 2001 Exhibition were donated to the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre and Devizes Museum along with an Index describing each exhibit. In recent months copies of the new CD have also been lodged there.

After Ron's death his family gave me all of his negatives, a huge collection. That was 4 years ago and after searching for all the Froxfield negatives I wondered what I could find relating to Hungerford and the result is this memory stick.

At this juncture I should say that throughout the long, long search to find Hungerford photographs I realised that there is much duplication. I am sure it will be appreciated that sorting out the negatives, totalling just over 5000, it was difficult to remember if a similar one already existed and where it had been saved. Rather than risk omitting what might be the only one of its kind I would keep it."

So... this collection of 220 photos derived from Ron Scott's collection that he had copied and developed over many years. All the photos can be found elsewhere on the Virtual Museum, but it is in tribute to the work of Ron and Moya that they are presented here as a full gallery.
