You are in [Themes] [Clubs and Groups] [Ladybird Club]

The Ladybird Club was formd in 1980 by Jill Iles, Beryl Kellow and Gillian Padgham in the days before mothers and toddlers groups were widespread.

The three mums and their children used to meet at the Methodist Church Hall in Bridge Street, originally meeting one afternoon a week with just eight children. It eventually grew into a group where children indulged in arts and crafts, music and movement.

A re-union party was arranged 35 years later in October 2005.

The club, by then renamed "Ladybugs" still met on a Friday morning at the Youth and Comminity Centre at John of Gaunt School.
